Sole Survivor
A very special and unique duckling captured at sunrise when Sudbury water meadow was bathed in colour, and Spring had finally emerged. There’s something about this portrait which makes me smile. Perhaps it’s the slight tilt of the duckling’s head or maybe the iridescent light shimmering off the water’s surface. The river warden told me she was one of eleven ducklings, but thanks to the vagaries of the crows she was now alone. You could say she was “The Designated Survivor”.
