The Suffolk Community Barn Owl Project need your help.

July 22, 2019

I recently spent some valuable time with members from the Suffolk Community Barn Owl Project. This small team of very dedicated volunteers have introduced 100s of nesting boxes in the Suffolk area working closely with The British Trust for Ornithology (BTO).  Monitoring the local Barn Owl population has proved invaluable for ensuring the future of local conservation, but it takes time and they are now actively seeking volunteers to join in with this important work. For more information on how you can get involved you can contact one of the project leaders, Simon Evans by mail at simonpe24@icloud.com

"Who's he looking at Mum?" Along the riverbank with a family of otters.

June 29, 2019

Otters have this simply magical quality and in recent years have seen an increase in numbers along England's rivers and waterways. Over the winter and spring time I spent many days on their trail along the banks of the Little Ouse in Suffolk, featured in the June edition of the  "Bury and West Suffolk" lifestyle magazine.

Amateur Photographer Magazine - Photo Insight "Seeking Shelter"

May 31, 2019

Delighted to be featured in Amateur Photographer Magazine regarding my favourite Puffin image taken on Skomer last year. Skomer is a magical place during the breeding season, but it pays to plan your trip in advance as visitor numbers are limited due to the fragile ecology of the island.

The natural beauty of Uist

May 18, 2019

Uist is part of an archipelago of islands which form part of the Scottish Outer Hebrides. It is a place where time stands still. A place of open spaces, rich ecology and enduring communities who live, work and farm on these tranquil isles. Having recently returned from this enchanted place you can view a short movie of what was a very personal journey on the link in the photograph.

In the interview I share some of my memorable wildlife encounters, together with some hints and tips which I have found useful in the field. Amateur Photographer Magazine, 'Soft Touch'

March 10, 2018

This particular image of a Mountain Hare was taken on the 'Dark Peak' near to 'Snake Pass' on the Derbyshire moors. Mountain Hares are particularly skittish and very well camouflaged in their winter coats which was why I was so very lucky to capture this moment as this little chap who sat obligingly on a snow covered ledge. This image was featured in 'Amateur Photographer', March 10th, 2018 edition of their magazine.

'Mad March Hares', The 'Times' Newspaper

March 08, 2018

I was so very privileged to observe the behaviour of this buck and doe in the Suffolk fields near Woodbridge. Whilst the weather was overcast I was transfixed as I watched their unusual courtship throughout the day. Hours of calm as they sat together in the field, punctuated by fleeting moments of fierce activity as they boxed each other…truly Mad March hares.

This particular image was featured in the 'Times' Newspaper, 8th March 2018 and is one of a series of limited edition Giclee prints available for purchase from the online store.

Amateur Photographer Magazine, 'Lost in the storm'

December 21, 2017

The North Norfolk coast is a fantastic location for photographing wildlife. With a large seal population dispersed along the coastline there are some great opportunities to catch some endearing moments; especially between November and February when nursing their young.  You always need to be careful not to disturb the seals as with all wildlife in their natural habitat. However I was fortunate enough to spot this solitary seal pup when a sandstorm had whipped up, recently featured in Amateur Photographer magazine - 16th December, 2017 edition.

This particular image is one of a series of limited edition Giclee prints available for purchase from the online store.

Daily Mail - Feature Article - The Seals at Horsey Beach

March 01, 2017

It was the most most amazing and exhilarating experience to photograph the grey seals at Horsey in Norfolk. Such a privilege to spend time observing and capturing moments of their behaviour. A series of these images was featured recently in the Daily Mail.

APOY 2017 - 'Into The Wild'

October 13, 2017

'Meadowland' - Category winner - Suffolk Wildlife Trust Photographic Awards - 2017

November 03, 2017

I was very honoured my image, "Meadowland" was  selected as the category winner, 'On Your Doorstep' in the Suffolk Wildlife Trust's 2017 photography awards. Taken on a summer's afternoon in the Lavenham meadows, rabbits are such intriguing creatures to photograph; especially when you watch their behaviour closely at this time of year around their warren.

This particular image is one of a series of limited edition Giclee prints available for purchase from the online store.
